For its Voyages issue, The New York Times Magazine did just that, traveling to 11 destinations to record sound and images. Jake Silverstein, editor in chief of the magazine, will be previewing some of the sonic voyages firsthand, and also moderating a discussion with sound recordings and an acoustic ecologist about the surprising ways that sound informs our understanding about the world.
