Second Sundays is a free event series presented on the second Sunday of every month. The program features open studios with current artists in residence, live music, exhibitions and participatory programs exploring art, science, technology and education. Free. RSVP.

Kerouac International Festival (Day 5), InsBowery Poetry Club – LES, 7pm – 9pm

The Kerouac Festival is an international event that started in Spain, in the city of Vigo, seven years ago. This is the event’s third edition in New York. Featuring poetry and performances from Mahogany L. Browne, Sheila Blanco, Francisco Castro and more. Free. RSVP.

Heather Gardens History Tour, Fort Tryon Park – Inwood, 1pm – 2pm

Join a walking tour of the Heather Garden and former Billings Estate in Fort Tryon Park with local historian Robin Boomer. See the views of the majestic Palisades and Hudson River, discover the historic remnants of the C.K.G. Billings Estate, and learn about the garden’s history and how it compares to the original 1935 Olmsted brothers’ design. Free.

Opening Weekend in Prospect Park, Prospect Park – Brooklyn, 9am – 6pm

Kick off the start of spring with a full weekend of special events and activities! Events include an Opening Day Parade and Fair, an 1860s-style ballgame, a campfire conversation, scavenger hunt, Smorgasburg Prospect Park. Free. RSVP.

Musical theatre nerds unite. Join a night of showtunes and comedy. Act 1: Broadway Bonanza: two comedians as musical theatre characters decide who’ll win in a physical fight. Act 2: Sing For Your Life: the audience chooses musicals that a guest will have to sing songs from. Act 3: 10-Minute Musical: three comedians improv a classic musical. Hosted by Sarah Kennedy and Patrick J. Reilly. $5.
