The Birthplace of Hip Hop, Cedar Playground – Bronx, 1pm – 2:30pm
On August 11th, 1973, hip hop was born in The Bronx at a recreational room party. The party was so popular and crowded it had to move the party over to what is now known as Cedar Playground. Join this tour to learn about the history of the popular music genre that began as an underground urban movement. Free.
Dance Away the Night with Winter Swing, Pelham Fritz Recreation Center – Harlem, 3pm – 7:30pm
Celebrate Harlem’s most famous dance genre The Lindy Hop and The Big Apple Circle Dance by swinging and hopping to some legendary Harlem jazz greats. You’ll learn a few swing dance steps and then get the chance to practice these moves. Free.
