Washington Square Park Holiday Tree Lighting, Washington Square Park – Greenwich Village, 5pm – 7pm

A 45-foot Christmas tree just south of the Washington Square Arch will be lit for the holidays. To celebrate the occasion, the Rob Susman Brass Quartet will perform holiday songs. Santa Claus is also expected to appear, with candy canes in hand.

Fibers and Figures, Sotheby’s Institute of Art – Midtown, 6pm – 8pm

Sotheby’s Institute of Art presentS Fibers and Figures, a group exhibition that brings together four artists exploring the contemporary body through the creation of textile works. Featuring Liz Collins, Sarah Finkle, Aqeel Malcolm, and Lily Moebes. Free. RSVP.

Dunces N’ Dragons, QED – Queens, 7:30pm – 9pm

Dunces N’ Dragons is a comedy show that puts comedians through D&D themed challenges. Performers roll a 20-sided die that decides their fate. Will they have to eat peppers as hot as a dragon’s breath? Or will the entire audience be teleported outside for a show in the street? With John Bilancini, Amanda Hurley, Chris Crespo and Prahnav Behar. $8.

Next to Normal, Bernie West Theater – Gramercy Park, 7:30pm – 10pm

Next to Normal is a rock musical that follows mother Diana Goodman’s struggle with worsening bipolar disorder and its effect on her family as they search for a new normal. Tickets are a suggested donation of $10. All proceeds will go to the Mental Health Association of New York City.

Celebrate the launch of Street Cuts—a growing collective of celebrated street artists from around the world who are turning their art into sharable digital stickers. The 30 Year Old Virgin is an hour of stand up told as one long story. Doyle grew up in a conservative Christian home and was saving himself for marriage. He got engaged but called off his engagement a month before his wedding and woke up in New York City, a 30 year old virgin. This show was previously seen at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. $10.
