ECOPOETIC Dance Performance, Washington Square Park, 6:30pm – 7:30pm

ECOPOETIC is a free site-specific performing arts event that expresses the Laban dance community’s desire to collaborate in taking care of the planet we share with millions of species, through artistic practices that cultivate meaningful relationships and create exciting and healthier livable places. The event has been conceived as a multi-centered spatial structure formed by interconnected spots, presenting simultaneous performances throughout the Washington Square Park/Garibaldi Plaza, highlighting its paths, spaces, and species, and inviting people to enjoy art as part of their everyday life. Free.

Movies Under the Stars: Black Panther Movie Screening and Wakanda Fashion Show, Richard Rodgers Amphitheater in Marcus Garvey Park – Harlem, 6pm – 10:30pm

Come early. Before this screening, in partnership with ImageNation, there will be a Wakanda Style Fashion Show, music, live African drumming, and more activities related to the movie. Free.

#TotallyPublicKaraoke, Pier I in Riverside Park South – UWS, 6pm – 10pm

Amaze the crowd when you rock the mic at #TotallyPublicKaraoke nights. Bring your friends, your voice, and your courage. Sign-ups are required and close between 8:30 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. depending on attendance. One song per person/group. Free.

Bryant Park Shakespeare – A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Bryant Park Lawn, 7pm – 9pm

This event is a full production of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, produced by The Drilling Company. A familiar sight – a romantic Bryant Park wedding – develops into a modern-day twist on Shakespeare’s classic comedy, full of madcap revelry and literary fantasy. Free.

Introduction to Meditation, Pats Lawn in Inwood Hill Park (W. 218th St. and Indian Road), 7am – 7:45am

This class is designed to introduce brand new beginners to the practice of mediation. Bring a mat or blanket for the session. Free.

Literati: A Comedy Show About Books and the Idiots Who Write Them, Caveat – LES, 8:30pm – 10pm

Literati is a night of comedians in character performing hilarious readings. Sophisticated, satirical, and sometimes wigs. Do you ever leave a comedy show saying “Hmm that was pretty funny but not enough reading.” Well then this is the show for you.
