Join a celebration of Mexican culture with music, dance, crafts and more. Also includes a screening of the movie Chavela. Free.

Public Art Opening and Participatory Event with Judith Modrak, Thomas Paine Park – TriBeCa, 10am – 2pm

Our Memories is an installation of seven translucent, neuron-inspired sculptures that contain cavities holding color-coded memory stones. The memory stones are classified into six primary emotive categories: joy, anger, love, sadness, fear, and surprise. During one-day events at the Naumburg Bandshell in Central Park and Thomas Paine Park, participants will transform two new sculptures by recalling a powerful memory and then sharing the memory by depositing it in a sculpture. Free.

Bryant Park Fencing, Fifth Avenue Terrace in Bryant Park – Midtown, 1:30pm – 2:30pm

Learn the basics with instructors from Manhattan Fencing Center. You must be 16 years old or older to participate. Registration is required at manhattanfencing.com. Free.

Exhibit Opening: Our Botanical World by the Professional Women Photographers Group, Queens Botanical Garden, 8am – 5pm

Our Botanical World features curated photographs by members of the Professional Women Photographers group inspired by the botanical world and its impact on human life through all seasons. A “Meet the Artists” event will take place from 6 to 8pm. Free with garden admission ($6 for adults, $4 for children and students).
