Contemporary award-winning poets present their most recent work. Kinokuniya Bookstore provides the warm, library-like environment, where you’ll meet other aficionados of poetry. Featuring poets D. Nurkse, Rachel Hadas, Jessica Greenbaum, and Tom Sleigh. Free.

Jeff “Tain” Watts: Desert Island Disks, The National Jazz Museum in Harlem, 7pm – 10pm

What is the secret sauce of swing? It’s hard to put into words. Fortunately, the wildly swinging drummer Jeff “Tain” Watts will share eight brilliant discs that illuminate the mystery and edify our souls. Ted Panken hosts as Watts opens the record vaults to reveal the music he can’t live without. $0 – $10.

Astoria Drink and Draw, QED – Queens, 8:30pm – 10pm

On the first Friday and third Tuesdays of every month, Q.E.D. hosts a social drawing event with focus on figure drawing from a live model. Model poses can range from 30 seconds to 20 minutes.No need to be a pro, no shame in drawing stick figures and hand-turkeys. $8 – $10.

The Set NYC presents an evening of shows, performances, networking and cocktails. Lineup includes Genique Green, Tay Solèy, Lady Ze, Nyara Jessica Suzanne, Joan Mercury. Hosted by Siobhan Fogarty. Artist collective Tableaux hosts an art salon with fetish themes. The event is strictly a mixer; organizers suggest wearing collars and cuffs but ask attendees to leave toys at home. Admission is donation based.
