Target First Saturdays, Brooklyn Museum, 5pm – 11pm

Brooklyn Museum hosts a day of free concerts, a dance festival, a film screening and panel discussions and a dance party in celebration of Black History. Music by The Skins, Latasha Alcindor and Aaron Abernathy. Panel discussions on Jean-Michel Baquiat and Malcolm X. Later in the night, Everyday People hosts a dance Party with performances from DJ mOma, Ian Isiah and Donae’O. Free.

The Circus and Sebastian, Westbeth Home to the Arts – West Village, 11am

A puppet ballet concieved and choreographed by Penny Jones to the rollicking music of Kabalevsky’s symphonic suite, The Comedians. The puppets look like giant Christmas toys come to life with The Nutcracker man as circus master. $10.

Sock Hop Sunday, Belle Reve – Tribeca, 8pm – 1am

Belle Reve is hosting its first Sock Hop party. Records starting at 8pm during dinner service and a DJ and go-go dancer comes on from 10pm to 1am. Adult milkshakes, burger and hot dog specials running all night long. Costumes are encouraged but not required. Free.

Repeater: A Little Show About Big Songs, QED – Queens, 8:30pm – 10pm

Music fans Evan Forde Barden and Patrick Cartelli host this monthly talk show about people’s favorite songs. Each month, they invite a special guest to share one song that they love – be it an all-time favorite, a track that reminds them of a great story, or something that just blew their minds. Then a musician takes the stage to cover it and play a song of their own. Think “You Made It Weird” meets “VH1 Storytellers.” This month features Josh Sharp (The Opposition with Jordan Klepper, Joe’s Pub) and Jacob Sharp (Mipso, mandolin/vocalist). $5.
