Pumpkin Smash 2017, Washington Market Park – Tribeca, 9am – 12pm

Bring your pumpkins, jack-o-lanterns and gourds for a smashing good time!  You smash them – and the NYC Compost Project will turn them into compost for city parks and green spaces. Free.

Albanian Brooklyn Festival, Seth Low Playground – Brooklyn, 12pm

This event will have live music, dance performances, a basketball, soccer, chess and dominoes tournament and a children’s Halloween costume contest. Free.

The Public Theater Mobile Unit: The Winter’s Tale, Williamsbridge Oval  – Bronx, 1pm -3pm

The Public Theater’s Mobile Unit, which brings productions of Shakespeare to communities all across New York City, journeys through tragedy into comedy with a new production of The Winter’s Tale, directed by Lee Sunday Evans (Caught, Porto). RSVP by emailing sarah.bisnow@parks.nyc.gov . Free.

Lauren Carly Shaw: Impressions, Glyndor Gallery in Wave Hill – Bronx, 2pm – 3pm

Artist Lauren Carly Shaw activates her work installed in the Glyndor Gallery. Presented as a durational performance, the artist enters and inhabits her work. A negative impression of her body made of foam and resin is set into a built-in cabinet. Integrating into the architecture of the gallery, Shaw’s performance underlines the role of the body in creating her site-specific work. The show is part of Call & Response, the Glyndor Gallery’s fall exhibition. Free with admission to the grounds: $8 for adults, $4 for students and seniors.

Protesters will march from Times Square to Washington Square Park. Organized by www.RefuseFascism.org .

Little Caribbean Food + Culture Crawl, Various location on Flatbush Avenue – Brooklyn, Nov. 4 (Sat), 3pm – 7pm

CaribBEING, a Flatbush arts and culture group, is organizing a tour of the best restaurants at the newly designated area of Little Caribbean.  Meeting place is the Flatbush Caton Market. $10 suggested donation.

Target First Saturdays, Brooklyn Museum, 5pm – 8pm

The Brooklyn Museum will host a full slate of events that include a film screening, a dance festival, concerts, a photo booth and a book club discussion. Click link for full schedule. Free.

Cabaret Law Repeal Party, Muchmore’s – Brooklyn, 11:55pm – 3am

The owner of Muchmore’s has been fighting NYC’s Cabaret Law since 2014 when he first sued the city over NYers right to dance. The law is now slated for repeal and the bar will  host a midnight party to celebrate. Performances by Dan Snazelle, Collin Crowe and Jessica Long. Free.
