THINGS TO DO
Julia Santoli: Siren Sore, Issue Project – Brooklyn, 8pm
Julia Santoli opens her 2018 ISSUE residency with the premiere of two new works within her Siren Sore cycle: a mutant project of myriad form manifesting as visual project, recording album, and live performance through genre-crossing collaborations. Santoli describes the work as retaining the narrative accessibility of song structures, but melding with the physical import of a site-specific sonic approach. The evening will also premiere two new works within a sculptural landscape: “spirit is matter” with saxophonist Tamio Shiraishi, and “the prisoners are becoming ambient” with electronic artist and PTP label-head Geng. $10 suggested donation.
Artist Talk: Natural Impact with Tim Daly, Cecilia Whittaker Doe, Brant Moorefield, and Lina Puerta, Arsenal in Central Park – UES, 6pm – 8pm
Join a discussion with artists Tim Daly, Cecilia Whittaker Doe, Brant Moorefield, and Lina Puerta, moderated by curator D. Dominick Lombardi. In “Natural Impact,” the new exhibit on view at NYC Parks’ Arsenal Gallery in Central Park, visual artists highlight the ingenuity and absurdity of this cycle through their work. Artists look at how nature sneaks back into our precisely constructed world and either softens the edges, or abruptly overwhelms them. Free.
