Bryant Park Reading Room: Winter Poetry with Brooklyn Poets, Kinokuniya Bookstore – Midtown, 6pm – 7:30pm

Contemporary award-winning poets present their most recent work. Kinokuniya Bookstore provides the warm, library-like environment, with shelves stuffed with books where you’ll get to meet other aficionados of poetry. This month’s poets are Jason Koo, Joe Pan, JP Howard, and Vanessa Jimenez Gabb. Poetry readings are on the third Tuesday of each month until April. Free.

Astoria Drink and Draw, QED – Queens, 8:30pm – 10:30pm

On the first Friday and third Tuesdays of every month, Q.E.D. hosts a social drawing event with a focus on figure drawing from a live model. Model poses can range from 30 seconds to 20 minutes. No need to be a pro, stick figures and hand-turkeys are welcome. $8.

Fortunately, the wildly swinging drummer Jeff “Tain” Watts will share eight brilliant discs that illuminate the mystery and edify our souls. Ted Panken hosts as Watts opens the record vaults to reveal the music he can’t live without. $0 – $10.
