Spotlight on Still Life – Closing Reception, H.H. Biddle House in Conference House Park – Staten Island, 1pm – 4pm

“Spotlight on Still Life”, curated by artist Ann Marie McDonnell, presents photography from the faculty and students of Curtis High School who were part of an educational program that focuses on the history of the still-life genre through painting and photography, as well as contemporary approaches. Free.

Free Watercolor Classes, Al Oerter Recreation Center in Flushing Meadows Corona Park – Queens, 1:30pm – 3:30pm

Painter and filmmaker Ashton Agbomenou will teach three adult watercolor classes demonstrating how to use lines, shapes, and colors to render an image. Bring an image you would like to paint during the two-hour session. Supplies will be provided and beginners are welcome. Free. RSVP by sending an email to cultureartsfun@parks.nyc.gov .

Nature Photography, Highbridge Park – Washington Heights, 2pm – 3:30pm

Bring your camera and join photographer Michael Palma Mir as you capture rock outcrops, cliffs and trees from behind the lens. Mir will discuss nature photography strategies for dealing with difficult lighting situations, lens and zoom choice for perspective control, and composition, using Highbridge Park and its many vistas.
