THINGS TO DO

Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration, J Hood Wright Park – Washington Heights, 10am – 4pm

Kick off the morning with Zumba, yoga, and art making. The afternoon is all about dance with Ailey Extension dance instructor Katherine Jimenez leading a NY Style Mambo class. After her class it’s a Latin dance party with professional salsa dance demos, dance instruction, and open dance for all levels led by Lorenz Latin Dance Studio. Free.

Outdoor World Music Day, Morris-Jumel Mansion in Roger Morris Park,

65 Jumel Terrace – Washington Heights, 12pm – 5pm

Come enjoy a daylong celebration of musical culture and dance from all over the world, featuring Heritage OP, Coco Mama, The Mike Griot Blues Trio, and dance instruction by Ximena Salgado featuring DJ Pito Salsa. Free.

With the Changes, Building G | G 201 Dance Studio in Snug Harbor Cultural Center – Staten Island, 6pm – 8:30pm

With the changes is a full-length site-specific contemporary dance piece by Janice Rosario. The project explores how the way we relate to each other and ourselves is dictated by the changing of the seasons. The aim is to unveil the human psyche through dance. $10.

Salsa with Piel Canela Dance, St. Anns Avenue and East 149th Street in St. Mary’s Park – Bronx, 12pm – 2pm

Dance to the sounds of DJ Cocotaso as he spins salsa, merengue, bachata, and more. Enjoy free dance lessons, performances by the Piel Canela Dance School, followed by open dance for all. Free.

Fall Festival, Victory Field in Forest Park, Woodhaven Boulevard and Myrtle Avenue – Queens, 12pm – 3pm

Celebrate fall with crafts, games, music, pumpkins, and more.

The Amazing Maize Maze, Queens County Farm Museum in Queens Farm Park, 73-50 Little Neck Parkway – Queens, 11am – 4:30pm

Enjoy getting lost in NYC’s 3-acre interactive corn maze. The adventure begins with a “Stalk Talk” to prepare you for the challenge of finding clues, solving puzzles, and making your way out of the maze. $5 – $10.

Tavern Terrace Fall Concert Series, Historic Richmond Town, 441 Clarke Ave – Staten Island, 6pm – 11pm

The beloved summer concert series at Historic Richmond Town’s Tavern Terrace returns with a family-friendly fall lineup of live performances and autumnal activities. Free.
