This event features open studios with current artists in residence, live music, exhibitions and participatory programs exploring art, science, technology and education. Featuring artists Shiri Rozenberg, Gozde Ilkin, Louis Fratino, Mary Helena Clark and Nic Kay. Music by Abdu Ali. $10 suggested donation.

Kimchipalooza VIII, Arrogant Swine, 173 Morgan Ave – Brooklyn, 3pm – 9pm

Make your own kimchi and watch a spicy kimchi eating contest. Featuring music from Looms, Cushions and Them Fangs. Free.

Hong Kong Dragon Boat Festival in New York, Meadow Lake, 9am – 5pm

Enjoy multicultural music and dance performances, martial arts demonstrations, traditional arts and crafts, storytelling, dragon dancing, and international food while watching more than 200 teams compete in the U.S. Dragon Boat Open Championship races at the oldest, largest, and most traditional dragon boat festival in the United States. Free.

World Music Performance and Conversation on Immigrants, Music, and Cultural Hybridity, Library Plaza in Seward Park, 12pm – 7pm

Join artists-in-residence Art Parley for a performance and conversation on immigrants, music and cultural hybridity. The event features a performance from violinist and composer, Sita Chay, and her all immigrant band. This program is part of Round Robin, which started as a free trilingual newspaper in Chinese, English, and Spanish for the communities in Chinatown, LES and Two Bridges. Free.

West African Dance Class, Morris-Jumel Mansion in Roger Morris Park, 65 Jumel Terrace – Washington Heights, 12pm – 1:30pm

Join a West African Dance Class led by world renowned drummer/teacher Yahyah Kamate. Free.

Smorgasburg Prospect Park, Breeze Hill in Prospect Park – Brooklyn, 11am – 6pm

Smorgasburg, the celebrated open-air food fair presented by Brooklyn Flea, returns to Prospect Park this spring! Over 100 local and regional food purveyors will gather to offer a range of cuisines. Free.
