Swing by for free instruction from Knitty City, New York City’s favorite yarn community and store, and knit with fellow enthusiasts. Yarn and needles provided. Classes are weather permitting. Free.

Juneteenth Celebration, Coney Island Boardwalk in Brooklyn, 4pm – 7pm

Join a commemoration of the abolition of slavery and the emancipation of enslaved African-Americans throughout the former Confederacy of the southern United States. This event will feature a “Revelations” dance workshop featuring Alvin Ailey instructor Lisa Johnson, music and dance performances. Free.

Shape Up NYC, North Plaza in Union Square Park, 6pm – 8:30pm

Shape Up NYC will kick off a summer series of free outdoor fitness classes. The first event in the series will showcase two classes: Bootcamp and Open Level Yoga in Union Square. Free yoga mats will be given out to the first 200 participants. Free. RSVP.

Bryant Park Poetry: Antrim House Books, Reading Room in Bryant Park, 7pm – 8:30pm

Join the Bryant Park Reading Room Poetry Series. This week’s program is produced in partnership with Antrim House Books. Featuring poets Brad Davis, Ellen Rachlin, Myra Shapiro, Marjory Wentworth, and Amir Or. Free.

Stargazing, The High Line at 14th Street – Chelsea, 6:45pm – 9:30pm

Head to the High Line for a walk along the park and a chance to take a closer look at the stars. Peer through high-powered telescopes provided by members of the Amateur Astronomers Association of New York to see rare celestial sights. Free.

Dirty Little Secrets Improv Show, Niagara, 112 Avenue A – East Village, June 19 (Tues.), 7:30pm – 9pm

It’s the Pride Month show at Dirty Little Secrets featuring a diverse cast full of queers and allies ready to proudly spill some heartfelt and seriously salacious secrets for some life-affirming comedy. Have an urge to get something off your chest but don’t feel comfortable paying $100 an hour for therapy? Anonymously divulge your secrets and watch this funny and creative group of improvisers play with your deepest darkest truths onstage. Laughter is the best medicine, so you are guaranteed a good time with extra catharsis to boot. The show is a mix of short-form and long-form improv inspired by your secrets (be they dirty, clean, little or big – don’t let the title pigeonhole you). $6.
