10th Anniversary NY Night Train Shakin’ All Over Extravaganza, Home Sweet Home – LES, 10:30pm – 4am

Celebrate the 10TH ANNIVERSARY of Jonathan Toubin / New York Night Train ‘s weekly residency at Home Sweet Home! Shakin’ All Over Under Sideways Down on April 25, 2008 was the first of 520 Fridays so far. Resident DJ Jonathan Toubin will be joined by Toronto’s DJ NICO aka Teresinha Costa of Vinyl from the Crypt CIUT 89.5FM . $5.

Arbor Day, Audubon Center at the Boathouse in Prospect Park – Brooklyn, 12pm – 4pm

This Arbor day, join games, crafts and an exhibit on Brooklyn’s last remaining forest, Prospect Park. The event features the Bird Nerd Game Hour, a competitive hour of puzzles, Bingo and card games.

8th Annual Shakespeare’s Birthday Sonnet Slam, Naumburg Bandshell – UES, 1pm – 4pm

Come hear all 154 Sonnets spoken by 154 readers of all ages and abilities. Free.

Bryant Park Fencing, Fifth Avenue Terrace in Bryant Park – Midtown, 1:30pm – 2:30pm

Learn the basics with masters from Manhattan Fencing Center. You must be 16 years old or older to participate. Registration is required at Free.

Arbor Day, Madison Square Park, 10am – 7:30pm

Celebrate Arbor Day with Madison Square Park’s arboretum and a day of free programming where you can learn all about MSPC’s favorite trees—some of which are over 165 years old! Start the day with Gardener Steph as she leads a tour of the Park’s trees. Her 10am tour begins at the Southern Fountain. Throughout the day, the fountain will also be home to fun and interactive tree-themed activities. At 12:30pm, stop by the Reflecting Pool, where urban arborist Bill Logan will speak about the history of Madison Square Park’s trees. Stick around as Story Laurie shares engaging tree tales starting at 1pm. Free.
