Around NYC Today (4/7) Prospect Park Opening Weekend, Target First Saturdays


Opening Weekend in Prospect Park, Prospect Park – Brooklyn, 9am – 6pm

Kick off the start of spring with a full weekend of special events and activities! Events include an Opening Day Parade and Fair, an 1860s-style ballgame, a campfire conversation, scavenger hunt, Smorgasburg Prospect Park. Free. RSVP.

Target First Saturdays, Brooklyn Museum, 5pm – 11pm

Brooklyn Museum hosts a David Bowie-themed day of art, free concerts, a drag showcase, a film screening and talks. Music by Mike Garson and Tamar Kali. Screening of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars.

Local History: Stories Behind the Street Names, Greenbelt Nature Center – Staten Island, 1pm – 3pm

Richard Simpson, the historian and tour guide of Moravian Cemetery, lectures about the Greenbelt neighborhood’s local history. His talk includes biographical information for people who have towns, streets, schools, and parks named for them. Free.
